Who cares
Constituencies. The session frames this as "web summit engagement" โ "a little bit of finding overlap with people in the web 2 world as well as finding money." Those who care are "all the people who are particularly web 2": the "open source community," the "european startup community," and "people in lisbon" โ "basically people who want to make apps and want to raise money." Also "the conference organizers so people like web summit or devcon" who "will want something visible something that people at the summit can use," and "the vibe coders who have been along the journey with us also care" because "they want a platform." The Hitchhikers themselves care because "we want to now be able to tell people hey you can download this app from the app store."
Nuance or tension. Funders are a split constituency: "there's going to be potentially people with money who've been looking for a reason to care about hitchhikers" โ "family offices people like that" โ but the open question is whether "they can actually see a way to deploy capital." A noted inversion: "people with a lot of money from crypto but haven't got any reputation from making that money in crypto," who care about cachet, prestige and legacy rather than only returns.
