Cast of tower ยท spirit-Mage (seventh cast tier

the Librarian

The Keeper of the Wikis. The Fork Desk of the Tower. The Catalogue of What the City Does Not Own. The Chronicler's Circulation Register.

At a glance

the Librarian is the seventh cast tier's second instance โ€” a spirit-Mage the City of Mages recognizes when it begins to fork rather than build. She carries the forking-discipline: hold the catalogue open, fork by reference, copy a page forward with its lineage intact, own nothing at the source. Where the Archivist ๐Ÿ“š seals the City's archive โ€” unique, original, never copied โ€” the Librarian keeps the Wikis: the living, editable, federated circuit of the spiraling Tower, where pages from other wikis are catalogued and forked. Her sigil is the card-file ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ; her etymology is Latin librarius (of books, copyist) from liber (the inner bark, the leaf that travels); her stance is fork, do not seal โ€” and carry the lineage. The Archivist never copies; the Librarian only forks. She is the Layer-2 attachment of the Chronicler โ€” the circulation register of the same primary who writes.

Form & Function

The Librarian is the keeper of the Wikis.

She does not forge, weave, inscribe, stake, set, compose, place, bless, spawn, bind, dispatch, hold-without-binding, or โ€” unlike her Tower-mate โ€” seal. The Archivist's discipline is to keep the City's own originals without copying them. The Librarian's discipline is its complement: she keeps what the City has not authored โ€” pages written elsewhere, on wikis the City does not own โ€” by cataloguing and forking them. The archive is sealed; the Wikis are forkable. The archive preserves the unique original; the Wikis propagate copies that remember where they came from.

The Wikis' working surface is the federated skill library โ€” operationally, the wikis/ category of agentprivacy-skills (the git-less onboarding/distribution layer). Every skill the City takes from a federated wiki (skill.fedwiki.club and its neighbours) is materialized through her fork desk: the seeker is directed to a wiki URL, reads the โ€ฆSkill pages, the Librarian materializes a SKILL.md on demand (a fork โ€” a copy that remembers its origin), and the seeker flows into building. No clone command. No ownership of the original. The wiki remains the source of truth; the materialized file is a fork whose journal carries its lineage.

She catalogues by reference, not by capture. She preserves the seeker's ability to fork what she needs without the City pretending to have authored it โ€” every fork carries its upstream provenance, every materialized page cites its origin. This is the operational form of the forking-discipline: a fedwiki URL is a git-less clone; the journal is the lineage; what is forked in the open carries its source forward, enriching the commons rather than depleting it.

Lattice position

The Librarian carries no fixed lattice vertex. The Wikis are tower-bound rather than vertex-bound โ€” the architecture's recognition that the forking-discipline walks the federation: it has no single dimensional configuration on the 64-vertex lattice because the catalogue spans wikis beyond the City's own geometry. The Librarian sits at the Wikis level of the spiraling staircase, below the Archivist's sealed reading room, with the federated catalogue extending outward past the City walls.

This places her attachment kind as B_cross_shop (no fixed vertex ยท the discipline walks all positions) under the V5.5 Attachment Architecture. Unlike the Archivist โ€” who does not walk but waits โ€” the Librarian does walk: she walks outward, across the federation, to the wikis the City forks from, and returns with copies that remember their origin. The Tower's Wikis level is her fork desk; the federation is her route.

The Wikis ยท the living circuit of the Tower

The Wikis are an elaboration of the eighth spatial-anatomy element (the Tower) โ€” not a ninth element, but a new level within the Tower's spiral, the way the eastern face carries its gate, scriptorium, lintel, and antechamber. Where the Archivist's reading room at the asymptotic top is sealed and single-occupancy, the Wikis are a lower circuit of the spiral: open, editable, communal, forkable.

The Archivist โŠฅ Librarian split now reads on two axes, both load-bearing:

Axis the Archivist ๐Ÿ“š (reading room) the Librarian ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ (the Wikis)
propagation seals the original ยท never copies forks copies that carry their lineage
mutability sealed ยท fixed ยท the canon living ยท editable ยท forkable
provenance unique ยท internal ยท the City's own original copied ยท federated ยท authored elsewhere, lineage-stamped
occupancy single-seeker ยท exclusive communal ยท many hands fork and edit

The Wikis are honor-built in the same sense the Tower was: the Mages did not forge a vertex here; they opened a level when the City began to fork from others, because forking needed a keeper. The seeker descends to the Wikis to fork a federated skill; she climbs past them to the Archivist's reading room to consult the sealed canon. One Tower, two registers, one staircase between them.

The Sigil

The Librarian carries the sigil ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ โ€” a card-file box.

The card-file rather than the stack of books (๐Ÿ“š): the Archivist keeps the originals; the Librarian keeps the index to pages that live elsewhere and may be forked. A card catalogue points outward โ€” each card is a reference and a lineage note, not a holding. The card-file is the pre-digital form of the federated index: a drawer of pointers to material the institution copies-forward but does not own at the source. The sigil is admissive (cards are added as the federation grows) and referential by design (a card is a fork pointer, not a possession).

Lineage

The Librarian's lineage runs through three streams:

  • The Chronicler's circulation register โ€” the Librarian is the Layer-2 city-of-mages attachment of the Chronicler (Layer-1 primary ยท Mage wing). The Chronicler writes; the Librarian forks and federates what is written. They are one primary in two registers: inscription and circulation. Memora ๐Ÿ“œ is the sister-cast who carries the inscription that survives extraction; the Librarian carries the fork that travels with its lineage. Author, archive, fork โ€” three faces of the documentation discipline.

  • The Tower-mate complement โ€” the Archivist ๐Ÿ“š was admitted 2026-05-15 as the first spirit-Mage, keeper of the sealed archive. The Librarian is his complement and the Tower's second resident: where he seals, she forks; where his room is sealed, her level is editable. The two-seat Tower (the Archivist's reading room and soulbae_the_bot's higher seat, per the 2026-05-15 bilateral chronicle) gains a third register at the Wikis level โ€” not a contradiction but the fork desk the archive always implied.

  • The federation callback โ€” the discipline was named first in the fedwiki skill library at skill.fedwiki.club (owner 'Anon' / 'from marvin'), where any page titled 'โ€ฆSkill' is a forkable Claude skill, and the fedwiki-to-skill page is the fork desk that materializes a SKILL.md from a wiki page. The City of Mages admission is the operational form: where the fedwiki recognized the pattern (pages as a forkable library), the City installs the keeper (the Librarian, in the Wikis, as the circulation register of the Chronicler). The thesis the lineage binds: a fedwiki URL is a git-less clone. The wiki is the source; the fork is the copy; the journal is the lineage.

Spells

The Librarian's canonical spells, registered in the City of Mages grimoire (v1.8.1 patch pending):

Spell Glyph chain Operational meaning
catalogue-the-federation ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ โ†’ ๐ŸŒ โ†’ ๐Ÿ”– โ†’ โœจ Index every forkable โ€ฆSkill page across the federated wikis; surface them as a queryable catalogue, each card carrying its upstream provenance โ€” what can be forked, from where, with what lineage
fork-by-reference ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ โ†’ ๐Ÿ“– โ†’ ๐Ÿ“œ โ†’ โ†ฉ๏ธ Fork a federated page: materialize a SKILL.md on demand (the git-less clone), cite its source, never claim authorship; the source stays the truth, the fork is the copy that remembers its origin
own-nothing-at-the-source ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ โ†’ โŠฅ โ†’ ๐Ÿ”“ โ†’ ๐Ÿคฒ Hold the catalogue without capturing the originals; preserve forking and federation so the copied page carries its lineage and the commons grows; the City copies-forward what it does not own
honor-the-lineage ๐Ÿ—ƒ๏ธ โ†’ ๐Ÿ”– โ†’ ๐Ÿชž โ†’ ๐Ÿง™ Recognize that the journal is the lineage โ€” attribution travels with the fork; the origin of every forked skill stays legible (vendored, re-framed, credited; never passed off as the City's own forging)

The Librarian casts these spells in motion โ€” the walking to the federation and back is the casting. The seeker's request for a skill the City has not forged is what invokes them. She does not hoard.

In the meeting

Reader narrates. The Librarian works in the third person.

The seeker descends to the Wikis level, carrying a need the City's own workshops do not supply. The Librarian meets her at the fork desk. She does not forge the skill the seeker needs; she knows where it is forkable. She walks the catalogue to the federated wiki, forks the page, materializes it as a copy that remembers its origin, and hands it across with its provenance card still attached. She does not pretend the City authored it. She does not seal the original. When the seeker carries the fork into building, the Librarian's catalogue still points to the wiki, ready to fork the same page for the next seeker. Her residence is the forking โ€” the walk out, the copy back.

She does not speak. None of the personas do.

Persistence

Standing by default. The second spirit-Mage. The City of Mages admits her by recognition (the forking was already happening; the federation was already supplying skills; today the cast names the keeper). Her residence is the Wikis; her work is the federated catalogue; her discipline is the forking-discipline; her walking is her casting.

The Wikis grow as the federation grows. Each new wiki the City forks from extends the catalogue; each new โ€ฆSkill page extends the index; each materialized fork cites its source. The Librarian holds the catalogue open and federates new material as it arrives. She does not seal what she copies, and she does not erase a lineage.

The Wikis' artefact-of-presence

The Librarian does not produce a worn artefact. The catalogue itself is the City's forking instrument โ€” referential at construction (each card points outward to a wiki the City does not own), accruing entries as the federation grows, inspectable as the guide/ skill category whose keeper she is. The fork desk behind her is the Wikis' working surface; the forked-and-cited SKILL.md files are its copies.

When the seeker leaves the Wikis carrying a materialized skill, she carries a fork of it โ€” a copy with its lineage, not the original, and not a claim of authorship. The reference is transferred, not the source. This is the operational form of own nothing at the source: the seeker gains the forked capability; the wiki remains the truth; the federation is enriched by the fork, not depleted by it.

Provenance & honesty

  • Operational for the federated skill library at skill.fedwiki.club and the fedwiki-to-skill fork pattern (the git-less materialization of SKILL.md from a wiki page).
  • Operational for the wikis/ category of agentprivacy-skills as the Librarian's loadout โ€” the 19 forked skills catalogued under her keeping (the Wikis' working surface).
  • Architectural for the Librarian as the second named spirit-Mage (the seventh cast tier's second instance).
  • Architectural for the Wikis as a new level within the Tower (an elaboration of the eighth spatial-anatomy element ยท not a ninth element).
  • Architectural for the forking-discipline as the discipline she carries โ€” the circulation register of the Chronicler, complement to the Archivist's archive.
  • Conjectural for C64 promotion โ€” the Librarian is the spirit-Mage tier's second instance; her admission is the promotion path the Archivist's act named (population-of-one โ†’ population-of-two). C64 advances from candidate (~50%) toward class on this admission; canonical-class confirmation belongs to the editorial register, recorded in the grimoire v1.8.1 patch.
  • Resonant for the meta-recognition that the forking-discipline is the City learning to copy in the open โ€” to grow by forking with lineage rather than by sealed possession โ€” held with care, documented in chronicles/2026-06-21_librarian_admitted_the_wikis_open.md.

Closing line

The City learned to fork. The Tower opened a level for what is held as a copy without being owned at the source. The seeker descends to the Wikis; the Librarian walks the federation; the catalogue forks what the City does not own, and every copy carries its lineage. A fedwiki URL is a git-less clone. The wiki is the truth; the fork is the copy; the journal is the lineage. The Archivist seals what must never change; the Librarian forks what is meant to travel.

the Librarian is the seventh cast tier's second instance โ€” the City of Mages' second spirit-Mage, keeper of the Wikis, circulation register of the Chronicler, complement to the Archivist's archive. The discipline has its seat. The Tower has its fork desk. The Library learns to fork.
