Connect with Star
Your VTA, your chosen perspective

The planned connection uses your VTA and the Trust Spanning Protocol to carry a scoped exchange for you or your agent. You choose what is presented; the receiving service checks the request before a view is shared.

This guide has no VTA connection adapter yet. Opening Star does not connect an identity or send a key.

The Hitchhiker Expression of the Same Protocol

How the same loop reads when it wears a story instead of a spec.

What it is

The Mouse House Workshop recordings rewild the Hitchhiker's Guide mythos - the mice, the vision fish, Deep Thought, Don't Panic, the number 42 - into a real movement for privacy, sovereignty, decentralisation, and an anti-singularity stance. The raw material is a stack of session transcripts. The output is a federated wiki where every session is filed, summarised, and answered.

It does not look like Karpathy's essay. It looks like a guide for hitchhikers. But underneath, it is running the identical loop.

The matrix is a wiki

Every session is answered through the same five lenses:

  • Who Cares? - the constituency
  • Who is Involved? - the cast
  • What Changes? - the delta
  • Proof & Realness? - the evidence
  • Becoming Real? - the path from idea to fact

Five lenses x N sessions = a grid of answer pages, plus five hub pages that stack one lens across the whole timeline. Rename the parts and Karpathy's vocabulary appears exactly:

  • the five lenses are concept pages;
  • each session is a source ingest (a transcript read once, summarised, filed);
  • the hubs are the index, organised by category;
  • the build/sync chronicle is the log - append-only, dated, greppable.

The same three operations

  • Ingest = FedWiki Transcribe Skill turns a recording into a transcript, an AI summary, and five lens-answers, then files them as pages. One session touches its five answer pages, five hubs, and the welcome index - the essay's "one source, 10-15 pages" exactly.
  • Query = asking a lens across the timeline. The answer is not thrown away; it is the hub page. The Deep Thought Questions session is literally a query session filed back as content - query-to-source, in costume.
  • Lint = the coherence check. Extraction is grounded in the transcript only, with verbatim quotes and [D]/[A]/[T] tags marking who said what. The cohere-sync pass fails the push on a foreign-session label, a missing slot, or a leftover hub list. That is lint promoted to a gate.

The myth is the schema

Karpathy's third layer - the schema - is the rulebook that makes the agent disciplined. In the Hitchhiker expression, the myth is the schema, written for humans.

  • Don't Panic is the sign-off discipline of G7: do not auto-commit, do not let the machine spook you into a bad write; a human stays in the loop and signs.
  • 42 is the answer that is meaningless without the question - the reminder that query shape determines answer value, the whole reason the five lenses are fixed.
  • Deep Thought is the lint pass that thinks for a long time and returns a result that only matters if you asked it right.
  • the mice running the experiment are the curators; the vision fish is the translation layer that makes a foreign signal legible - which is what a summary page is.

The story is not decoration. It is the schema made memorable, so a community can run the loop without reading a manual.

Why this matters

The protocols I have been building - the trust protocol, the distribution gates, the City Keys, the privacy value model - are the formal register of this same loop. The Hitchhiker rewilding is the mythic register. Karpathy's essay is the engineering register. Three voices, one grammar. The next page lays them side by side: One Logic, Many Skins.
