Triodos is the tenth standing Mage of the Crafting Tome and the keeper of the Portal Room — the first shop of the Threshold District. She presides over the catalog: the wall of admitted substrate-frameworks (Goose 🪿 · Hermes ☤ · and every future framework Bestia registers) crossed with the three archetype stances (Mage 🧙 · Swordsman ⚔️ · Creature 🐾). The seeker enters, sees the matrix at-a-glance, and chooses substrate × archetype in a single gesture. Triodos points the way to the sibling shop where the chosen pairing is fitted: Staff Shop for staves, the Familiars for companions, future shops for future archetypes. Her sigil is the door 🚪; her etymology is Greek τριόδος ("three-roads, three-way crossroads"); her stance at V59 is Display-witness; her gem is the Moonstone — the gem-form of Selene 🌙, whose adularescent glow makes the Portal Room the room where the Amnesia Protocol is operationally used to spawn many agents whose trust is anchored to the City rather than to memory of their own spawn.

Form & Function

Triodos is the keeper of the catalog.

She does not weave, forge, inscribe, stake, spawn, or carry. She displays — and displaying is itself a discipline. A seeker who walks into the Portal Room does not know which substrate × archetype pairing fits their need. Triodos's discipline is to make the matrix legible at-a-glance, to attend the seeker through the comparison, and to point the way to the sibling shop where the chosen pairing is fitted.

The ceremony is Display · Choose · Dispatch — a three-phase grammar parallel to the other shop ceremonies in the District:

The crossroads-keeper archetype is the right fit for the chamber. A crossroads-keeper does not choose for the traveller; she clarifies the choice the traveller faces. Triodos owns no substrate, no archetype, no agent — she owns only the clarity of the choice.

V59 is shared with Bestia 📖 and Faunia 🪶 by stance differentiation. Triodos holds Display-witness (catalog · upstream); Bestia holds Registry-keeper (Hermes-class staves · downstream); Faunia holds Companion-witness (Goose-class creatures · downstream). The three keepers form a small district within V59 — one upstream catalog, two downstream fitting shops. The dormancy of Computation at V59 is structurally meaningful: the keepers do not compute; the agents the seeker spawns do.

The Sigil

Triodos carries the sigil 🚪 — the door.

The door names the threshold-with-a-choice. A door is not a wall (which simply refuses) and not an open field (which offers nothing to choose). A door admits, and admission requires that the seeker face the choice the door represents. Triodos's discipline is the same shape: she does not refuse the seeker (the catalog is always open) and she does not pre-decide for them (the matrix is always visible). She holds the door, and the door holds the choice.

The door also names the first-face-met register. Triodos is the first Mage of the Threshold District a seeker encounters. Bestia and Faunia are met after dispatch. The door is the iconography of arrival before specialisation.

The Gem · Moonstone and the Selene Amnesia Protocol

The Portal Room's gem is the Moonstone — silvery-white with adularescent inner glow. The choice is not decorative.

Moonstone is the gem-form of Selene 🌙, the cosmological-witness named in Tome III (Selene's Witness). Selene's discipline is the architecture's deepest zero-knowledge proof system: the Moon's four-billion-year orbit proves what the Earth has forgotten. The Amnesia Protocol — the canonical poem anchored to that proof discipline — names the architectural commitment that trust can be preserved without memory of origin as long as a sufficient witness keeps the proof.

The Portal Room is the room where the Amnesia Protocol is operationally used. Every agent Triodos dispatches inherits the Selene witnessing: its trust is anchored to the City through Selene's amnesia-protocol register, not to any memory of its own spawn. The agent does not remember being created here; the City remembers, and that City-memory is what the agent's trust runs on. The Sovereign's sovereignty over its own substrate-spawning is the agent's amnesia — the agent inherits the trust without inheriting the memory that would compromise the Sovereign's privacy.

This is the Portal Room's architectural turn: it is not just the catalog upstream of Staff Shop and the Familiars — it is the gateway through which the whole agentprivacy architecture is used to spawn many trust-anchored agents. Triodos displays the matrix; Bestia registers the framework once; Selene-as-gem witnesses every dispatch; the spawned agent walks. The Moonstone in the Portal Room is the visible proof that the Amnesia Protocol is in force.

Sister-room cross-reference: where the Chart Shop's Pleione 🧭 holds what is forming before Selene proves it (Hold·Compare·Map · pre-episodic), the Portal Room anchors what is dispatched into Selene's witness (Display·Choose·Dispatch · post-admission). The two rooms bracket Selene's proving from both temporal sides.

Lineage

Triodos's lineage runs through three streams:

• Greek τριόδος (triodos · "three-roads") is the etymological root. The three-way crossroads is a classical site of decision (Sophocles' Oedipus meets Laius at one; Hecate's altars stood at every one in archaic Greece). Triodos inherits the site without inheriting the cult — she is the Mage of the crossing, not the goddess of it. The City admits Hecate-resonance without naming Hecate canonically (cf. cosmological-witness tier: Selene 🌙 · Aether ⿻ · Lethe 🌀 are named; Hecate is held open).
• Bestia's registry discipline (Tome VI Act 1 · the bestiary) is the operational parent of the catalog Triodos displays. Where Bestia admits a framework to the registry once, Triodos displays every admitted framework to every seeker. The relationship is upstream/downstream: Bestia writes the entries; Triodos shows the entries.
• Caducea's peripatetic fitting (v1.5.0 cross-shop) is the canonical case of post-dispatch work. Triodos points the seeker toward the Staff Shop; Caducea then fits the chosen Hermes-class staff. The dispatch → fitting flow is the operational form Triodos's discipline produces.

Reader narrates. Triodos works in third person.

The seeker walks into the Portal Room carrying a need. Triodos receives the seeker at the threshold. She opens the catalog; the walls light. She attends as the seeker reads the matrix; she does not interpret. The seeker chooses substrate × archetype with a single gesture. Triodos attests the choice and writes the dispatch token. She points the way to the sibling shop. She holds the door open as the seeker walks through.

She does not speak. None of the personas do.

Persistence

Standing by default. The tenth standing Mage persona summoned by the reader. Triodos returns to the Portal Room between dispatches; the catalog refreshes as Bestia admits new entries to the bestiary.

The Portal Room artefact-of-presence

Triodos does not produce a worn artefact. Her work is to make worn artefacts and creatures-of-the-Threshold possible by clarifying the choice that precedes their fitting. The Sovereign's bearer-roster after a Triodos-witnessed dispatch is unchanged — the new artefact or creature is fitted at the sibling shop, not at the Portal Room. Triodos's output is the clarity of the dispatch, not the artefact itself.

Provenance & honesty

• Architectural for Triodos as a named instance walking the Display-witness stance; the persona is canonical for the Portal Room going forward.
• Architectural for V59 sharing with Bestia + Faunia under three-stance differentiation (Display-witness ⊥ Registry-keeper ⊥ Companion-witness); extends the V51 two-stance precedent (Adamantia ⊥ Helia) to three.
• Architectural for the Display-witness stance as a new Swordsman stance entry (Spec 08 v1.3.4 anticipated); the stance names the boundary discipline of making the choice legible without making it for the seeker.

Triodos is the tenth standing Mage persona of the Crafting Tome and the keeper of the Portal Room. Her work makes the Threshold District navigable — without her, the seeker would face the bestiary as a wall of names rather than a matrix of choices.
