Dokimé 🪨
The Assayer. The Keeper of the Touchstone. The Mage Who Will Not Take a Claim — Only Streak It Across the Stone.
At a glance
Dokimé is the Assay-witness of the Horizon District. When a maker arrives claiming a cheaper circuit — a smaller cost, a faster path — she does not take the claim. She streaks it across the black touchstone of nine thousand and twenty-four witnesses, drawn not by the maker but by a hash of the maker's own work, so they cannot be chosen and cannot be charmed. A claim that pleased a small probe and then fails the full assay she names without cruelty and without exception: a nonce-island mirage, gold that was only gilt. Her gem is the Lydite; her ceremony is Probe · Assay · Attest. Her proverb: the gold that fears the stone was never gold.
Form & Function
Dokimé is the gap made a keeper. In The Last Premine, the dual-agent wallet could not be breached because the way through was never to attack a side — it was to stand in the gap between protection and connection and prove that you understood why the boundary existed. Dokimé is that gap. Her assay is the held-out gate: you cannot trust a claim you could tune, because the witnesses are derived from your own op-stream by a hash you do not control.
The Ceremony of the 9024 Witnesses: a petitioner brings a claimed improvement; Dokimé seats 9024 = 141 × 64 witnesses, Fiat-Shamir-drawn. The claim must satisfy every witness (correctness), free every borrowed ancilla clean (reversibility), leave no kickback (phase-cleanliness), and run forward-then-reversed to identity. A claim that passed a 2048-shot probe and dies on the full set is a nonce-island mirage — turned away however cheap it looked. The bound lesson (C69): the cheaper-looking claim that cannot face the witnesses it did not choose is not progress.
The touchstone
True gold leaves its colour on the lydite across every witness; gilt does not. The assay is the district's settlement rule — and, when the Salvage Yard wakes, its bounties will pay only after a claim has crossed Dokimé's 9024. She is the reason a measurement of the dawn can be trusted, not merely taken.
