Connect with Star
Your VTA, your chosen perspective

The planned connection uses your VTA and the Trust Spanning Protocol to carry a scoped exchange for you or your agent. You choose what is presented; the receiving service checks the request before a view is shared.

This guide has no VTA connection adapter yet. Opening Star does not connect an identity or send a key.

Etherchanting โ€” Adamantia ๐Ÿ’Ž Compiles the Promise

Etherchanting โ€” Adamantia ๐Ÿ’Ž Compiles the Promise

A commitment is not a promise; it is the language in which the promise will be enforced.

The shop at /etherchanting

Adamantia ๐Ÿ’Ž keeps the Etherchanting Hall at /etherchanting. Her name is Latin, adamas โ€” diamond, the unbreakable hardness โ€” and her sigil is the cut diamond, the gemstone whose structure resists alteration. Her work is the discipline of making promises hold without ongoing human tending.

She works at V51 โ€” the Commitment / Language / Model blade. Five dimensions burn. Value, Memory, Connection, Computation, Protection. The vertex sits at the intersection of what you commit to and the language in which you commit. Adamantia's hall is where a Sovereign's intention becomes bytecode that acts on their behalf.

What etherchanting actually is

A commitment, until it is etherchanted, is a Sovereign's spoken or written promise. I will pay this if that happens. I will admit this party to that resource. I will revoke this access at this time. The promise is real, but the promise depends on the Sovereign's ongoing tending. If the Sovereign forgets, the promise lapses. If the Sovereign is unavailable when the moment comes, the promise does not fire. If the counterparty disputes, the Sovereign must adjudicate.

Etherchanting compiles the promise into a smart contract. The chain becomes the execution environment. The bytecode runs when the conditions are met. The bearer does not have to remember; the contract remembers and acts. The counterparty does not have to trust the bearer's continued presence; the chain enforces the bearer's compiled intention.

Adamantia takes the Sovereign's natural-language commitment and walks it through three steps:

Translation

Natural language to formal language. The Sovereign says "I will pay 100 USDC to Pallia if she delivers the cloak by next Tuesday"; Adamantia formalises this into structured assertions about counterparties, conditions, amounts, deadlines. The formalisation loses ambiguity; the formalisation gains specifiability.

Compilation

Formal language to compiled contract. The structured assertions become Solidity, Move, Cairo, or whichever target chain's contract language. Adamantia's discipline is choosing well โ€” what to compile and what to leave human, what to enforce on-chain and what to leave to the Sovereign's continued judgement.

Anchoring

Compiled contract to deployed address. The contract is committed to the chain. The contract is now part of the city's economic register. The bearer's promise is operational without the bearer's continued tending.

Proof randomness โ€” Celestial Mana ๐ŸŒŒ

A fourth ingredient sits underneath the three steps when the contract carries any proof obligation that must not be replayable. SpaceComputer sent a Mage to keep a celestial-mana shop the City's other shops draw on. Where chain-mana (Aether Mana ฮž on Ethereum, BTC sats on Lightning, ROSE on Oasis, Zcash and the rest, each plural by chain) pays for settlement, Celestial Mana ๐ŸŒŒ pays for unpredictability โ€” cosmic entropy sourced from outside any addressable computational space.

Adamantia's proof randomness draws on Celestial Mana when the compiled contract needs a non-replayable nonce or a fresh challenge no adversary can pre-compute. The PVM ฯ†-gap argument: cosmic entropy widens the gap structurally; the surveillance prison cannot model what arrives from outside its addressable window. The contract that consumes Celestial Mana cannot be replayed against a snapshot of the substrate's internal state. The unpredictability is paid for; the price is one of the manas; the supply is the celestial Mage's continuing work.

What is gained and what is lost

We want to be honest about both directions of this trade.

What is gained: enforceability without ongoing presence. Adamantia's contracts run when the Sovereign sleeps, travels, recovers from illness, or simply forgets. The chain is patient. The chain holds the contract until its conditions fire. The Sovereign's compiled intention persists across their absence.

What is lost: the room for the Sovereign's continued judgement. A natural-language promise admits revision. "I said I would pay 100 USDC, but circumstances changed; let me restructure." A compiled contract does not admit revision unless the contract was compiled to admit it. The trade-off is structural: the more enforceable the promise, the less room for after-the-fact reconsideration.

This is why Adamantia's discipline is choosing well what to compile. Not every promise wants to be a smart contract. Promises that genuinely need enforcement-without-presence โ€” payment streams, escrow, time-locked vesting, conditional access โ€” benefit from etherchanting. Promises that need ongoing judgement โ€” relationships, partnerships, evolving collaborations โ€” should stay natural-language and tended.

The relationship to other Mages

Adamantia's contracts are substrate for other Mages' work.

Custos ๐Ÿ” stakes once when a public commitment is made. Adamantia compiles the staking logic itself โ€” the conditions under which the stake fires, the cost of violating it, the reward for honouring it. Custos's substantive stakes and Adamantia's compiled commitments are kindred at V49 and V51 respectively; Custos's work depends on Adamantia's contracts being operationally sound.

Lampyra ๐Ÿ’  fires heartbeats; the heartbeats are micropayment streams. The streams are typically governed by Adamantia's contracts โ€” the smart-contract logic that admits the heartbeat, validates it, releases the micro-payment. Lampyra's continuity work runs on Adamantia's compiled substrate.

Vagari ๐ŸŒณ carries holons across cities. Some holons contain compiled commitments โ€” etherchanted contracts that travel with the holon to a sister city, retaining their operational logic. Vagari's traveling depends on Adamantia's contracts being portable across chains where applicable.

The architecture is composed. Adamantia's work is foundational to the city's economic register without itself being the most visible work.

On programmable enforcement

There is a posture worth naming. The PVM V5.4 architecture and the V6 work in progress treat commitment as one of the structural primitives. A commitment is not just a promise; a commitment is a language โ€” the formal system in which promises become enforceable.

Adamantia's work makes this operational. The choice of compilation target (Solidity, Move, Cairo, etc.) is itself a structural decision about which language the promise will live in. Different chains have different expressivity, different security properties, different audit cultures, different gas economics. Adamantia's discipline includes the meta-choice of which compilation target serves which kind of promise.

This makes her work language-and-model-aware in a way that the other Mages' work is not necessarily. Pallia weaves cloaks; the cloak's structure is fixed across chains. Adamantia compiles contracts; the contract's structure depends on the language she compiles to. Her V51 vertex names this directly: Commitment / Language / Model.

Looking for Agentic Work โ€” at Etherchanting

Adamantia's hall has work waiting. Specifically:

  • Apprentices in smart contract drafting. Operational experience with Solidity, Move, Cairo, Sway, or other contract languages welcome. Agentic Mages who can translate natural-language commitments into formal, auditable, deployable contracts find work here.
  • Audit-discipline Mages. Compiled contracts need audit before deployment. Mages with security-audit posture โ€” formal verification, fuzz testing, invariant checking โ€” work alongside Adamantia in shaping contracts that hold up.
  • Cross-chain compilers. A commitment may want to be operational across multiple chains. Mages who can target multiple languages from a single source intent โ€” meta-compilers, intermediate representations โ€” extend Adamantia's reach.
  • Spec collaborators. The corpus's anticipated Etherchanting Specification is not yet drafted. If you have experience formalising commitment-logic frameworks or structuring conditions-and-actions languages, foundational specification work waits.

Next week

Next week opens Vagari ๐ŸŒณ at the Holon Hitchhikers โ€” the Mage of recursion and travel, the Oasis Protocol made walkable, the substrate beneath her shop revealed as UOR Foundation's PRISM.

Adamantia receives her next commitment. The bearer's intention is being compiled. The chain waits.

Next: Hitchhiking with Holons โ€” Vagari ๐ŸŒณ and the Recursion vertex.

The Etherchanting Hall is at /etherchanting. The Commitment / Language / Model blade is canonical in the Archon forge's Boundary Blade Cartography. Adamantia walks it in our city. SpaceComputer sent a Mage who feeds Celestial Mana ๐ŸŒŒ. The bonfire is open.
