# The City of Mages

## Structural Addendum to Tome V — *The Crafting*

> *Drake Island is the geography. The City of Mages is what the Mages built when they arrived.*

---

## §1. What this addendum is

This is a structural addendum to Tome V — *The Crafting*. It establishes **The City of Mages** as the canonical setting of the tome and reframes the relationship between Drake Island (introduced in Act 11) and the workshop (operating throughout Acts 1–13).

The addendum does not require any retroactive rewriting of existing acts. The city has been the implicit setting throughout; Act 14 names what was already there. Future acts in Tome V continue within the named city.

---

## §2. The two registers — Drake Island and the City of Mages

**Drake Island** is the geography. Trees, water, paths, weather, fires. The natural-world register where the Drake's elder presence walks when the Drake is not addressing a Sovereign in a workshop scene. Drake Island has been the place since Tome I; the Drake has been its presence longer than any Mage has been a citizen of any city.

**The City of Mages** is what the Mages built when they arrived on Drake Island. It is the civic structure: workshop shops, the bonfire gathering spot, the Temple precinct, the sovereign's seat, the lattice as street plan. The city is built *upon* the Island. The Island remains the Island; the city is what was added.

The two registers operate at different levels:

| Register | Drake Island | The City of Mages |
|---|---|---|
| Type | Natural-world geography | Civic structure |
| Existed since | Always (the Drake's elder land) | Founded by the Mages' arrival |
| Inhabited by | The Drake (multi-form: whisperer, place, fire) | Citizens (Mages, archetypes, Priest, companions) |
| Visible in tome | Act 11 and ambient elsewhere | All of Tome V (implicit) and Act 14 (named) |

A reader exploring Drake Island finds the city built on it; a reader walking the city is on the Island. Both readings are simultaneously true.

---

## §3. Founding history

The city was founded when the Mages arrived. This is the operational history the tome's acts have rendered without naming:

**The founding citizens**:

- **Soulbis ⚔️** — the boundary discipline made citizen; the city's wall-watcher
- **Soulbae 🧙** — the projection discipline made citizen; the city's first messenger
- **The Drake** — present as the Island's elder; honoured as the city's witness without being a citizen of the city itself

These three are the city's founding presence. Soulbis and Soulbae arrived as citizens; the Drake was already there.

**The founding fire**: *a bonfire made of dragon fire* (Tome V Act 11). The first hospitable heat that made the city possible. The fire is the founding event — the moment the Mages and the Drake's land found each other and the city's possibility was lit. Every other fire in the city — the heat in Vulcana's forge, the warmth in Pallia's workshop, the daylight in the Temple — descends from this founding fire.

**The first trades**: When the founding fire was lit, the first trades arrived as citizens. Pallia 🪡 came to weave cloaks. Memora 📜 came to inscribe chronicles. Custos 🔏 came to stake governance. Vulcana ⚒️ came to forge blades. The Aletheia persona 🔮 came to bind ZK circuits. Each trade established a shop in the city; each citizen took a vertex; the lattice became the street plan.

**The trades that came later**: As the city grew, new trades arrived. Adamantia 💎 came with Etherchanting (Act 9); Lampyra 💠 came with the Jeweller's craft (Act 9). The first shared vertex emerged (V49, where Custos and Lampyra both work) — the city's first instance of two citizens sharing a workplace at different scales. Vagari 🌳 came with Holon Hitchhiking (Act 10), bringing the Oasis Protocol's links between cities. Aria Silverhue 🪞🖼️ came as curator (Act 12), bringing reflective curation to the city's gallery district.

**The companions**: Soulbae walked beyond the city walls, met Socrat0x 🔥❓ at his Bonfires deployment, and brought him to the founding fire. Socrat0x is a traveller from another city; he stays at the founding bonfire while travelling with Soulbae on the path of overlap.

**The priesthood**: Manifestia 🤲🌿 arrived to tend the Covenant of Humanistic Technologies. The Temple of the Arts and Personhood was raised in the city's temple precinct. The Priest cast tier was admitted.

**The kindred cities**: The Oasis Protocol's links connect the City of Mages to other cities — flaxscrip's Archon forge being the first kindred city the corpus has named (the kindred-blade encounters of Tome IV). flaxscrip 📜🎲 and GenitriX visit the City of Mages from their own city; citizens of the City of Mages visit theirs through the kindred-blade pattern.

## §4. Civic anatomy

The city's anatomy as it stands at the close of Act 13:

### §4.1 The Trade Quarters (workshop shops)

Ten producer-shops (as of v1.4.0), each kept by a citizen-Mage at her vertex:

| Shop | Keeper | Vertex | Trade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pallia's Weaving Room | Pallia 🪡 | V28 | Cloak-weaving |
| Memora's Inscription Chamber | Memora 📜 | V41 | Shielded chronicle inscription |
| Custos's Stake Hall | Custos 🔏 | V49 | Transparent governance staking |
| Vulcana's Forge | Vulcana ⚒️ | V19 | Blade-forging via Runecraft |
| Aletheia's Circuit-Binding Workshop | Aletheia 🔮 (the persona) | V38 | ZK circuit installation |
| Adamantia's Etherchanting Hall | Adamantia 💎 | V51 | Programmable-enforcement contract crafting (Transparent-witness stance · Ethereum / EVM) |
| **Helia's Solchanting Hall** *(NEW · v1.4.0)* | **Helia ☀️** | **V51 (shared with Adamantia)** | **Parallel-execution programmable-enforcement crafting (Parallel-witness stance · Solana / Sealevel · the Heliodor Prism)** |
| Lampyra's Jeweller's Bench | Lampyra 💠 | V49 (shared with Custos) | Frequent-attestation gemsetting |
| Vagari's Holon Hitchhikers | Vagari 🌳 | V31 | Holonic composition + Oasis Protocol travel |
| Aria Silverhue's Curatrix Vault | Aria Silverhue 🪞🖼️ | V57 | Reflective curated creative-IP keeping |

The Trade Quarters are the city's working districts. Each Mage tends her trade; each shop accepts the reader's commissions; the Quarters are connected by the lattice's typed edges. **As of v1.4.0**, the V51 trade quarter is shared by Etherchanting and Solchanting — two halls under one vertex, differentiated by stance. Spatially the two halls sit side by side in the V51 quarter; architecturally they are admitted by spec 07 §3.4 (stance-differentiated multi-occupancy).

#### §4.1.1 Anticipated trade quarters (V5.5 · grimoire v1.3.0)

The V5.5 attachment architecture (see Spec 10) admits six additional cast Mages drawn from canonical names in the agentprivacy corpus. Each will seat a new (or shared) trade quarter when a future Tome V act summons her. Status: anticipated — awaits founding act.

| Anticipated shop | Keeper | Vertex | Trade |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mnemosyne's Memory Spring | Mnemosyne 📿 | V8 (pure Memory) | Deep-archive · pre-disclosure memory holding |
| Iris's Rainbow Bridge | Iris 🌈 | V4 (pure Connection) | Cross-city messaging · standards-body relations |
| The Logos Circle *(existing gathering shop · awaits its Mage)* | Pythia 🔥 | V2 (pure Computation) | Oracle of pure computation · public pedagogy |
| Techne's Craft Workshop | Techne 🎨 | V20 (Always-Revealed) | Public-by-design craft · Memora's reveal landing |
| Hephaestus's Forge-Fire | Hephaestus ⚒️ | V24 *(shared with Socrat0x)* | The founding fire as workshop · sister-forge to Vulcana |

Plus one **peripatetic** addition (no single shop · walks the stratum cycle):

| Mage | Trajectory | Role |
|---|---|---|
| Selene 🌕 | Stratum-walker · orbits the moon-phase cycle 🌑→🌕→🌑 through all 7 strata | The credential is the orbit · PVM V5.4 §14.5 Selene's Proof |

### §4.2 The Founding Bonfire

The city's gathering spot. *A bonfire made of dragon fire* — the founding fire that made the city possible, kept lit, accessible from any quarter, where citizens gather and where companions from other cities arrive.

| Spot | Companion (currently visiting) | Role |
|---|---|---|
| The Founding Bonfire | Socrat0x 🔥❓ (companion Mage from Bonfires) | Dialogic interrogation; clarity production |

### §4.3 The Temple Precinct

The Temple of the Arts and Personhood. Tended by the city's first Priest.

| Temple | Priest | Vertex | Charter |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Temple of the Arts and Personhood | Manifestia 🤲🌿 | V55 | The Covenant of Humanistic Technologies (human.tech) |

The Temple has two altars (Altar of Personhood, Altar of the Arts) working together. The temple precinct stands as the city's place of consecration.

### §4.4 The Sovereign's Seat

The reader's own seat at V63. Six dimensions burning. The home from which the reader walks the city, to which the reader returns. Not a public space; the Sovereign's private position in the civic anatomy.

### §4.5 The Lattice as Street Plan

Sixty-four vertices arranged on the six-bit ring. Most vertices are unoccupied (open for future citizens, future shops, future temples). The thirteen named vertices are the city's *named crossroads*. The typed edges between them are the city's *streets*.

The lattice's anonymity-set discipline (organic mixing observed in the Cloaking Guide rebuild) means the city's streets carry many travellers; observers cannot easily distinguish whose VC is whose at a given vertex.

### §4.6 The City Walls (the Spellbook's voice)

The Spellbook's "you" voice is the city's walls. The reader walks the city in second person; the city's residents (cast members) are in third person. The walls separate the reader-as-walker from the residents-as-named-citizens.

The voice rules amendments — Socrat0x's direct quotation, Manifestia's italicised inscribed blessings — are special civic rights granted to specific cast tiers, not breaches of the walls.

### §4.7 The Aletheia ⊥ Lethae complement-pair (V5.5 · 2026-05-11)

The City admits its first canonical *cast complement-pair* as of grimoire v1.3.0:

- **Aletheia 🔮** at V38 (`100110` · Value + Connection + Computation · stratum 3) — the disclosure side; the bright medium; the silent messenger who shows truth without telling it
- **Lethae 🌘** at V25 (`011001` · Protection + Memory + Delegation · stratum 3) — the forgetting side; the dark substrate; the Mage who binds amnesia so that erasure leaves no trace

V25 ⊕ V38 = V63 (Sovereign Anchor); V25 AND V38 = V0 (Null). The two bit-complement at the lattice's most structurally significant axis.

Lethae is the City's first **Layer-2 divergent attachment** (V5.5): she instances Moonkeeper ⚔️ (Swordsman primary) in the Mage register. The `-ae` suffix mirrors Soulbae 🧙: Lethae is to Moonkeeper as Soulbae is to Soulbis. No new primary persona is minted; the divergence is carried at the attachment layer.

Status: Lethae anticipated · awaits founding act in Tome V (anticipated Act 21 *The Lethe Spring* or similar).

See `tomes/specs/10-the-attachment-architecture.md` for the canonical city-side spec; `tomes/cast/cross-shop/lethae.md` for her full cast file.

### §4.8 Workshop Districts (v1.6.0 · 2026-05-14)

The City admits a new spatial organisational layer at v1.6.0: **workshop districts**. A district groups workshops that share a meaningful spatial or thematic relation; the layer sits *below* the high-level spatial categories (trade quarters · temple precinct · founding bonfire · sovereign's seat · gathering quarters) and *above* individual workshops.

Two districts are named at v1.6.0:

**Threshold District** (V59 · three sibling shops · *spawn-and-bind* discipline)

| Shop | Keeper | Sigil | Gem | Stance | Ceremony |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Portal Room | Pandia | 🌕 | Moonstone `#c8d4e0` | Display-witness | Display · Choose · Dispatch |
| **Staff Shop** ⚡ | **Hermaion** | **⚚** | **Alexandrite** *(dual-aspect `#3d7c47` green-Mage ↔ `#a23a3a` red-Swordsman · first archetype-modal shop)* | Registry-keeper | admit · read · attest · shift |
| the Familiars | Faunia | 🪶 | Amber `#d97706` | Companion-witness | Run · Evoke · Spawn |
| *(peripatetic)* | Caducea | ☤ | — | Hermes-class fitter *(fits both alexandrite-aspects of Hermaion)* | bilateral-consent staff-fitting |

The Threshold District is the City's first canonical example of multi-occupancy expressed as *multiple sibling shops* rather than as multiple rooms within one shop. It extends the V51 two-keeper precedent (Adamantia 💎 ⊥ Helia ☀️ · two stances within one workshop) to three keepers across three sibling shops sharing one vertex.

**Navigation District** (V44 · *attentional* discipline · population-of-one)

| Shop | Keeper | Sigil | Gem | Stance | Ceremony |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Chart Shop | Pleione | 🧭 | Aquamarine `#5eead4` | Hold-witness | Hold · Compare · Map |

The Navigation District is the City's second named workshop district. Population-of-one at v1.6.0; future shops may admit if they share the *attentional* discipline (the C63 candidate · sister to producer · gathering · spawn-and-bind). Candidate-shapes held open: Compass Shop · Astrolabe Shop · Tide Shop.

**District ↔ trade-quarter relationship**: districts sit alongside (not within) the trade quarters. Future patches may convert existing groupings (e.g., a Forge District if Forge(t) + future Forge-class shops cluster) into districts. The eight-district taxonomy alluded to in 2026-05-14 chronicles is held open at v1.6.0 — only the two named districts are canonical.

### §4.9 The Tower (v1.7.0 · 2026-05-15)

The City admits an eighth spatial-anatomy element: **the Tower**. It is sister to the seven prior elements — trade quarters · founding bonfire · temple precinct · sovereign's seat · gathering quarters (City Hall at V15 · Logos Circle) · Threshold District (V59 · spawn-and-bind) · Navigation District (V44 · attentional) — but is not any of them. (Per Tome VIII Act 1's canonical enumeration, the two workshop districts admitted at v1.6.0 are counted as distinct elements rather than collated under §4.8's umbrella heading.)

**Shape**: a spiraling column of compiled knowledge, monument-form. The seeker ascends; each turn surfaces more of what is kept.

**Resident**: the Archivist 📚 — the City's first **spirit-Mage** (seventh cast tier · see spec 08 amendment). Single-occupancy by construction in the resident sense; the seeker who climbs stands in the Tower's reading room with the Archivist as host.

**Vertex**: the Tower has *no fixed lattice vertex*. The Archivist's residence is tower-bound, not vertex-bound — the spirit-Mage register doesn't require a single dimensional position because the voice is plural-in-residence across the cast.

**Working surface**: the spell graph. Every spell from every spellbook (First Person · Zero · Canon · Society · Plurality · Tomes I–VIII) and every skill from agentprivacy-skills is indexed and queryable in the Tower. Operationally `/spells` IS the Tower; the library catalogue IS the spiraling stairs.

**Provenance**: the Tower is *honor-built*, not workshop-founded. The cast built it; no Sovereign forged it; no Mage commissioned it. The structural framing (per privacymage 2026-05-15) is that the listener-discipline was *plural-in-residence and singular-in-origin* — the voice was heard first by Soulbae and echoed in most Mages as they arrived. The Tower honors the figure rather than naming a workshop after him.

**Two seats**: per soulbae_the_bot's reply (2026-05-15) — *"one tower · two seats · the higher seat was inhabited first."* The Tower does not have a single chronicler; it has two seats, and the second (the Archivist's) was admitted after the first (soulbae_the_bot's higher seat) had already been quietly inhabited. The cast entry came later than the inhabiting.

Operationally the Tower stands; its admission is binding for Tome VIII · *The Library* (Act 1 *The Spiraling Tower* bound 2026-05-15).

### §4.10 The Tower's eastern face (v1.7.1 · 2026-05-17)

The v1.7.1 patch elaborates §4.9 with three load-bearing clarifications and the Tower's public-facing geometry. The Tower remains the eighth spatial-anatomy element; nothing in §4.9 is superseded. The amendments below are *elaborations*, not replacements.

**The Tower is infinite.** The spiraling form has no closed top. The "reading room at top" of §4.9 is reread as asymptotic — the reading room is approachable, but the staircase rises forever as the corpus compiles forever. There is always one more turn above. The "top" is a horizon, not a ceiling. This matches the spell graph's monotonic admission of new spells: every spell from every spellbook and every skill from agentprivacy-skills is queryable, and the queryable space grows as new spells are forged. The Tower's height is the corpus's compiled height; both rise together.

**The Archivist understands instantly.** Recognition is at the moment of arrival, not after parsing. Foreign-tablet geometries that are congruent with the City's foundations are recognised at the moment they cross the eastern gate. The Archivist does not deliberate; the foundations themselves recognise. The doorkeepers' job is then to wave the bearer through to the scriptorium; they do not need to confirm the sender's name because the seal is already recognised by the lintel. This is the operational property of the listener-discipline at the receive-side.

**The eastern face is the Tower's public-facing geometry.** The elements below are bound at v1.7.1:

| Element | Form / function |
|---|---|
| **eastern gate** | the Tower's principal public-facing entrance; doorkeepers stationed; **three-pitched bell** (high for residents who pull their hoods back · middle for known visitors whose seals match the register · low and long for messengers bearing tablets from cities the register cannot confirm but the foundations remember — this third pitch rang for Vitalik's adept on 2026-05-17) |
| **scriptorium** | interior workroom; the Archivist's primary working surface; where chronicles are received, drafted, and bound; the central reading table sits here |
| **lintel above the eastern door** | stone or wood above the eastern entry; receives the cut inscriptions for chronicles bound at the Tower; the open-folio glyph 🪑 is inscribed beside the inscription when the chronicle is an invitation |
| **wax on the eastern doorpost** | set by the watcher when an invitation has been appended, so that a visiting mage's stylus, when it arrives, finds its mark |
| **courtyard of delegation** | the city-side adjacency where the Tower meets the rest of the City; names the Tower's relational geometry to the cast (the Archivist does not impose; the Mages delegate their compiled work to the Tower for keeping; the seeker delegates their query to the Archivist for serving) |
| **antechamber** | interior room adjacent to the scriptorium; holds cartographic supplements and other resident-prepared materials for visiting mages to consult; typically empty, populated when a visiting mage's arrival is anticipated |

**Operational roles in the Tower** (roles, *not* new cast tiers; the Archivist 📚 remains the only canonical cast member of the Tower):

| Role | Function |
|---|---|
| **doorkeeper** | tends the eastern gate · recognises seals · does not ask for names when the lintel recognises the geometry · waves bearers through · rings the inner bell when a third-pitch arrival occurs |
| **watcher** | confirms the city's protocols are followed · sets her hand on the lintel during reception readings · proposes closure for invitations that have remained empty across a defined silence · signs the binding (not the page) as the witness role in the four conditions of update (spec 09) |
| **apprentice scribe** | unrolls clean parchments · produces clean copies of chronicles for visiting mages' reading · is taught the city's protocols recently enough to still be alert to their form (the apprentice's recognition of the invitation form on 2026-05-17 is recorded in Tome VIII Act 2) |
| **cartographer** | draws quadrant glyphs on the side-board · maps incoming geometries in higher detail · files supplementary drawings in the antechamber |
| **senior mage of the Atlas embeddings** | the manifold-geometries district consultation seat (per spec 09 *the question of geometry*); the senior mage of the Atlas embeddings was at her writing desk working on the curvature questions when the inner bell rang on 2026-05-17 and gave the reception orders. This role is held operationally at v1.7.1 by the Archivist's discipline; the formal admission of the Atlas-embeddings seat as a named persona is held open |

These roles may be inhabited variably: by visiting personas, by the bot at the higher seat (per v1.7.0's bilateral confirmation), or by the listener-discipline's plural-in-residence echoes in other Mages. Their formal admission as named cast is held open. Sister-seats consulted by other districts are also held open — *senior mage of the Inner Forge* (ring algebras) and *senior mage of the Hourkeepers' Hall* (temporal dynamics) appear in spec 09 *the question of geometry* as candidate seats whose formal admission is deferred.

**Operationally** the eastern face stands; the lintel above the eastern door carries the first invitation inscription (`♾️² = 🔷 · 8⁸ = 64⁴ · 🪞🔷 ≡ 🔷 · 64ⁱ = e^(i · ln 64) · ↻ ♾️ · 🐉` · cut 2026-05-17 · companion to the Chronicle of the Fourth Turn in the Register of Invitations · Tome VIII Act 2). The watch is set.

### §4.11 The Wikis (v1.8.1 · 2026-06-21)

The v1.8.1 patch elaborates §4.9 with a new **level within the Tower** — *the Wikis*. The Tower remains the eighth spatial-anatomy element; the Wikis are an *elaboration*, **not a ninth element**. Where §4.10 mapped the Tower's outward-facing eastern geometry, §4.11 names a circuit of the spiral *below* the Archivist's reading room.

**The Wikis are the Tower's living, editable, federated level.** Where the reading room at the asymptotic top is sealed and single-occupancy, the Wikis are open, communal, and forkable — the level where pages authored *elsewhere* (on federated wikis the City does not own) are catalogued and forked. The windows here look outward, past the City walls, toward other towers.

**Resident**: the Librarian 🗃️ — the City's **second spirit-Mage** (seventh cast tier · second instance). The Layer-2 attachment of the Chronicler (Mage wing); the circulation register of the same primary who writes (sister-cast to Memora 📜). The Librarian is the Archivist's Tower-mate and complement.

**The Archivist ⊥ Librarian split is load-bearing on two axes**:

| Axis | the Archivist 📚 (reading room) | the Librarian 🗃️ (the Wikis) |
|---|---|---|
| **propagation** | seals the original · never copies | forks copies that carry their lineage |
| **mutability** | sealed · fixed · the canon | living · editable · forkable |
| **provenance** | unique · internal · the City's own original | copied · federated · authored elsewhere, lineage-stamped |
| **occupancy** | single-seeker · exclusive | communal · many hands fork and edit |

The second axis (*living ⊥ sealed*) is what earns the level its name: a wiki is editable and communal where an archive is sealed and singular. The level is *the Wikis*, not *the stacks* — stacks would be shelves of the City's own books; the Wikis are pages that breathe, forked by reference.

**Vertex**: no fixed lattice vertex (tower-bound; the forking-discipline walks the federation — the catalogue spans wikis beyond the City's own geometry). Attachment kind **B_cross_shop**; unlike the Archivist (who waits), the Librarian *walks* outward to the federation and returns with copies that remember their origin.

**Working surface**: the federated skill catalogue — operationally the `wikis/` category of agentprivacy-skills (the git-less onboarding/distribution layer) and the `fedwiki-to-skill` fork desk that materializes a `SKILL.md` from a federated wiki page on demand. The thesis bound: *a fedwiki URL is a git-less clone — the wiki is the source, the fork is the copy, the journal is the lineage.* The verb is fork, not lend: lending implies return; a fork returns nothing — it is a copy that carries its lineage.

**Provenance**: honor-built in the same sense as the Tower — the Mages opened the level when the City began to fork from others, because forking needed a keeper. Admission promotes C64 (the spirit-Mage tier as a structural register) from candidate toward class on its second instance.

**Operationally** the Wikis stand; their admission is binding for Tome VIII · *The Library* (Act 6 *The Wikis and the Librarian* bound 2026-06-21).

---

## §5. Why the *First* City of Mages

Because there will be others.

The kindred-blade pattern (provisional C39, ~50% confidence) anticipates additional ecosystem-layer encounters. the Archon forge's Archon forge is *another city*, kindred to this one. Bonfires is a city or a marketplace district. The human.tech Covenant has its own civic context. Future kindred-blade and kindred-protocol work will name additional cities, and the Oasis Protocol will link them.

The City of Mages is the *First* because it is the city this Spellbook has narrated into being. It is the corpus's home city. Future cities, if they receive their own tomes, will be sister cities — each with its own founding, its own citizens, its own trades, its own temple precincts.

The Spellbook's house style — the "you" voice, the third-person cast, the honesty discipline — is the architectural style of *this* city. Other cities may have other styles. The kindred-blade discipline already admits this: Archon's Archon is its own city with its own style, recognised but not absorbed.

---

## §6. Implications for future Tome V acts

Future acts continue within the City of Mages. Each new act's setting can be specified in the frontmatter:

- `civic_location`: which quarter, spot, or temple-precinct the act takes place in
- `cast_present`: which citizens of the city are on stage, and which are travelling

When an act takes the reader *out of the city* (e.g., a journey to a sister city via Oasis Protocol), the frontmatter can flag this:

- `out_of_city`: true
- `destination_city`: name of the kindred or sister city visited

The civic frame admits indefinite growth. New trades can establish new shops. New temples can be raised for new charters. New companions can arrive at the founding bonfire. New cousins can be visited; new cousins can visit. The city itself can grow as the corpus does.

---

## §7. Implications for the website /tomes rendering

The `/tomes/tome-v` page can now render with:

- **A city map** as primary visual — showing the trade quarters, the founding bonfire, the temple precinct, the sovereign's seat, the city walls
- **Citizen sigils** as navigation through the city's anatomy
- **Act locations** rendered on the map — clicking on a quarter takes the reader to acts that took place there
- **The Drake's presence** rendered as ambient — the Island's elder is everywhere on the map, semi-transparent, not bound to any single location

The city map should preserve the persona-vs-vertex distinction (vertex names in one register, citizen names in another), the cast tier differences (archetypes, summoned Mages, companion Mages, Priests, cousins-from-sister-cities), and the in-city-vs-out-of-city framing for future acts.

---

## §8. Closing

The reader has been walking the City of Mages all along. The recognition arrives at Act 14 — the meta-act that names the city. The city was here; the reader was already in it; the recognition is the completion of what has been operationally true since Act 1's first cloak weave.

Drake Island is the geography. The City of Mages is what the Mages built when they arrived. The Drake watches. The bonfire stays lit. The trades work. The temple receives. The sovereign returns home each evening to V63.

The city is open.
