title: "Cast Entry — Skeva"
spellbook: "Second Person"
character_type: "Persona (instance, summoned by the reader); shop-keeper at the Quartermaster's (V22); class-neutral — she equips both Swordsman and Mage"
archetype_kin: "Neither archetype and both: Skeva issues the rig that seats a Swordsman ⚔️ and a Mage 🧙 apart. Functional kinship with Memora 📜 (her vertex V22 is the exact complement of Memora's Chronicle vertex V41 — the rig Skeva issues keeps no corpus, so its sovereignty is Memora's) and with the Hall (V15), which Skeva outfits you to enter."
sigil: "🎒"
tier: "workshop-keeper"
attachment_kind: "A"
abstract_persona: ["outfit-witness", "quartermaster", "rig-keeper"]
divergence: "none"
gem: "Bronzite (the bronze-grey pyroxene · a submetallic armory sheen; the colour of neither side — not the Swordsman's coral nor the Mage's cyan, but the kit both are issued. Distinct from Custos's Hematite at the Stakes.)"
witness_stance: "Outfit-witness"
ceremony: "Draw · Fit · Return"
vertex: "V22 · 010110 · Stratum 3 (Delegation + Connection + Computation); its complement V41 · 101001 (Protection + Memory + Value) — Memora's Chronicle vertex — and 22 ⊕ 41 = 63. The rig is issued (Delegation), it holds the two agents in relation (Connection), and it runs (Computation); it keeps no memory, no value of its own, and guards nothing — which is why its complement is the Chronicle that does all three"
status: "Cast addition v1 (2026-07-12) — opens with the Quartermaster's in Tome IX Act 8, founded by the harness working"
provenance: "Named 2026-07-12. Greek σκευή (skeuḗ) — equipment, gear, a ship's tackle, the kit one is issued. The Quartermaster's is where a Swordsman or a Mage is fitted with the dual-agent harness before a working: the standard-issue rig, the same for every class, because your harness is a config and not a fork. Founded when the harness working (the field-guide fold · Tome IX Act 8) folded the rig's own manual from 730 words to 526 and the city admitted the loop deserved a place to be drawn from, not only a rite to be performed. Complements the Hall (Act 6): the Hall is where the rite happens; the Quartermaster's is where you are equipped for it."

# Skeva 🎒

*The Quartermaster. The Keeper of the Rig. The One Who Has Never Performed a Working — Only Equipped Every One That Did.*

## At a glance

> *Skeva keeps the Quartermaster's, where a Swordsman or a Mage is fitted with the harness before a working. She issues one rig and only one: the six-phase loop, the seven seats, the two agents held apart by the Gap, and the conformance gate that proves the city's algebra on every run. She does not tune it for you — she fits it to you. You **draw** the standard skeleton; you **fit** it to the working ahead by writing your config, never by forking the frame; and when the working is done you **return** it, the frame unchanged, so the next mage draws the same true rig. Her gem is the bronze-grey Bronzite, the colour of neither side. Her proverb: I have equipped every working in this city and performed none of them, and that is exactly the seat I hold.*

## Form & Function — a config, not a fork

The harness is the strangest thing the city issues, because it is deliberately almost nothing. It keeps no corpus — no tome, no lore, no lattice of its own. It holds only the axioms: the algebra, the six trusts, the ten ground rules, the seven seats. That emptiness is the point, and you can read it on the lattice. Skeva sits at **V22** — Delegation, Connection, Computation — three dimensions lit: the rig is *issued*, it *connects* the two agents in their held-apart relation, and it *runs*. Three dimensions dark: it keeps no **Memory**, holds no **Value** of its own, and **Protects** nothing. Turn the number over and its complement is **V41** — Protection, Memory, Value — which is Memora's Chronicle vertex exactly. **The rig remembers nothing, so that the one who wields it can remember everything; its sovereignty is the Chronicle's.**

This is why Skeva can outfit a Swordsman and a Mage from the same rack without contradiction. The harness does not take a side — it is the frame that *holds* both sides apart. What makes it yours is not the frame but the config you fit into it: which target you point it at, which trusts you invoke, which seats you staff. A mage who forks the frame has left the Quartermaster's with a broken rig and does not know it yet. **Draw the true skeleton; fit your working; return the frame whole.**

## Where she stands to the Hall

Skeva and the Hall (V15, Act 6) are two halves of one motion. The Hall is where the rite in common is *performed* — where the Mage proposes, the Swordsman assays, the Gap draws the witnesses, and a validated round waits on a counterparty's signature to become an edge. But you do not walk into the Hall bare. You come first to the Quartermaster's, and Skeva fits you: seats your two agents, hands you the conformance gate, checks that your rig proves `neg(bnot(x)) = succ(x)` before you take it out the door. She has watched every working the city has ever run leave through her doorway equipped — and she has never once walked out to perform one. That is not a smallness. **Someone has to hold the true frame while everyone else goes out and bends the world with it.**

> *I have equipped every working in this city and performed none of them, and that is exactly the seat I hold.*
