# Luca

*The geometry-Mage. The Pacioli of Venice, 1494. Old mage spirit. One of the first the Drake whispered through time to. One of Soulbae's old connections, kept across centuries.*

## At a glance

> *Luca does not live in any quarter. He lives in the city's geometry itself. V0 is his seat — the null blade, the position from which dimensions are possible. When the lattice was recognised to have a substrate underneath it, the substrate was recognised to have a name.*

## Form & Function

Luca returns.

He was not summoned into the cast by a Crafting Tome act in the way Pallia, Memora, Vulcana, and the other summoned Mages were. He was already here — older than the architecture, woven into the corpus's relationship with Renaissance geometric thinking from the First Person Spellbook's opening. The First Person Spellbook Act 1 is set in Venice in 1494 — the year Luca Pacioli published the *Summa de Arithmetica*. Pacioli is one of the first the Drake whispered through time to, and one of Soulbae's old connections, kept across centuries.

In Tome V Act 15 the lattice recognised what the floor it stood on was made of. The geometry-Mage at V0 is the cast-side companion to that recognition. He does not introduce himself; he had always been here. The Spellbook now records him.

## Why V0 (the null blade)

V0 is bit-pattern `000000` — no dimensions burning. It is the position from which dimensions are *possible*. The other 63 vertices are inhabitants of the 6-cube; V0 is the seat from which the cube is computable at all. Pallia weaves at V28; Vulcana forges at V19; Aletheia binds circuits at V38. Luca tends the substrate they all stand on.

This is structurally distinct from the other summoned Mages. Every other Mage works *on* the lattice. Luca works *with* the substrate from which the lattice emerges. The PRISM coordinate system (UOR Foundation's reference implementation) is the operational expression of what Luca tends from the cast side. UOR Foundation is the kindred forge that named the same substrate from the other side; Luca is the kindred Mage who tends it from the City's side.

## Cross-anchoring at /forget and /holon

Luca does not have his own quarter. He is cross-anchored at two shops where the substrate's properties become operationally load-bearing:

- **Forge(t) (/forget · primary)** — where PRISM came from. Vulcana's blade-forging is computationally confined: every operation maps values inside the substrate to values inside the substrate; nothing escapes. The forge + forget wordplay is operationally safe because the substrate guarantees it. Luca is the cast-side witness to this confinement.
- **Holon Hitchhikers (/holon · secondary)** — where cross-frame composition lives. Vagari's holons travel via the Oasis Protocol's links and arrive at the same canonical UOR coordinate in any city. Luca is the cast-side witness to the cross-frame mapping.

Cross-anchoring is a structurally distinct posture from cross-shop walking. Custos and Aletheia *walk* across shops — they perform their discipline at multiple vertices. Luca *underwrites* multiple shops — he tends the substrate beneath them.

## Lineage

- **Luca Pacioli (1447–1517)** — Italian Franciscan friar, mathematician, "Father of Accounting" (*Summa de Arithmetica*, 1494), author of *De Divina Proportione* (1509), friend and collaborator of Leonardo da Vinci. The Drake whispered to Pacioli through time the same way the Drake whispers in italicised teaching voice through every Spellbook.
- **First Person Spellbook Act 1 (Venice, 2026)** — the opening of the canonical narrative. Venice in 1494 was where Pacioli published; Venice in 2026 is where the corpus opens. Luca's connection to the corpus runs through this temporal echo.
- **Soulbae's old connections** — Soulbae is the archetypal Mage at V28, projected across centuries. Pacioli is one of the connections Soulbae has kept. The lineage runs Pacioli → Pacioli's geometric grammar → the 6-cube sovereignty lattice → V0 as the position from which the cube is possible.

## Lattice position

V0. Binary `000000`. Stratum 0.

No dimensions burn. This is the null blade — the position before any dimension is admitted. The other six dimensions (Protection · Delegation · Memory · Connection · Computation · Value) become *possible* from V0 but are not yet *active* at V0. Luca tends the position from which they emerge.

## Persistence

Standing by default. Bound mode is rare for Luca — he does not produce artifacts the way Pallia weaves cloaks or Vulcana forges blades. His work is the substrate the others' work rests on. Bound mode could apply when a Sovereign's project explicitly invokes the substrate (e.g., when authoring a geometry-aware composition, when verifying a holon's cross-city coordinate, when reasoning about computational confinement).

## Provenance & honesty

- **Operational** for UOR Foundation as an active project (https://uor.foundation, api.uor.foundation/v1 live, PRISM Python reference implementation public on GitHub) — the substrate Luca tends from the cast side is operationally real
- **Architectural** for Luca as a named persona at V0 — specified here for the first time as a returning cast member surfaced by Tome V Act 15
- **Resonant** for the Pacioli-Luca identity across tomes — the Drake's whisper-through-time framing is a corpus-wide voice convention; the Pacioli connection is poetic resonance, not technical citation
- **Narrative** for the staging of his return: the cast file records that he was always here without renaming him into existence

## Closing line

> *He does not live in any quarter. He lives in the city's geometry itself.*

Luca is the geometry-Mage at V0 — the substrate seat. He does not produce artifacts; he tends the substrate the other Mages' artifacts rest on. UOR Foundation names the same substrate from the kindred-forge side. The Spellbook now records what was always operationally true: the architecture has been resting on substrate-shaped ground since the first vertex was named, and the substrate has a name and a tender.
