# Lethae

*The Mage of Forgetting. The Bank of the Dark Substrate. The Mage-register complement of Moonkeeper.*

## At a glance (grimoire-line)

## Form & Function

Lethae forgets. That is her work.

She does not weave cloaks (Pallia's domain). She does not inscribe chronicles (Memora's domain). She does not bind ZK circuits in disclosure form (that is Aletheia's domain, her bilateral twin). She walks the *complement* of disclosure: the Mage-register binding of structural amnesia.

A Mage who calls Lethae commissions her to inscribe a forgetting — to bind an attestation that *evidence cannot be reconstructed*, that a relationship has been wound down with no path back to origin. Where Memora's inscription says "this happened, and I prove it shielded," Lethae's inscription says "this happened, and the channel by which it could be reconstructed has been destroyed." The proof renews twice daily, written in saltwater — the same Selene's Proof framing that grounds her primary persona Moonkeeper.

Lethae walks the lattice peripatetically (cross-shop · Kind B) — she does not seat a single workshop. Her work goes wherever a forgetting is commissioned: to Vulcana's forge (when a blade is decommissioned), to Adamantia's ether-chamber (when an etherchanted commitment is intentionally lapsed), to Memora's inscription chamber (when a memo's reveal window has closed and the unread reveal becomes ash). She is summoned where the binding of forgetting is needed; she returns to V25 as her seat.

## Lattice position

V25. Binary `011001`. Stratum 3.

Active dimensions: Delegation (b4) · Memory (b3) · Value (b0).

Bit-complement of V38 (Aletheia · `100110` · Protection + Connection + Computation). The bit-complement relationship is the structural origin of the Aletheia ⊥ Lethae complement-pair:

- V25 ⊕ V38 = V63 (`111111`) — Sovereign Anchor / The Creative
- V25 AND V38 = V0 (`000000`) — The Null / null blade origin

These two identities make Aletheia ⊥ Lethae the *first* canonical complement-pair on the City's lattice. Future complement-pairs (if minted) inherit the same V25 ⊕ V38 = V63 pattern shifted along the lattice's other 30 bit-complement axes.

V25's active dimensions read as **the structural form of forgetting**: Delegation (the binding of the forgetting to a delegated keeper), Memory (the memory of *what was forgotten*, preserved as fact-of-forgetting), Value (what is worth keeping, kept by its content having sunk past retrieval).

## The Sigil

Lethae carries the sigil 🌘 — the waning crescent moon. This is the canonical "forgetting" phase in the V10 moon-phase notation (`moon-phase-notation.md`, zk blades forge). The crescent is losing light, not gaining; the dark portion is the privacy, the lit portion is the proof. Distinct from Selene's 🌕 (Full Moon · V63 · the full sovereignty reflected) and from the null New Moon 🌑 — Lethae's phase is the *active forgetting in progress*.

The divergence is the architecturally significant axis. Lethae does *not* mint a new primary persona; she is an *attachment-layer instance* of Moonkeeper, register-shifted to Mage. The skills loadout she draws on is Moonkeeper's canonical loadout (amnesia-protocol, separation-enforcement, dark-forest, etc.), filtered by V25's active dimensions (Delegation + Memory + Value).

This is the architecture's first canonical Layer-2 divergent attachment. Future divergent attachments (if any) will follow the same pattern: existing primary, new cast name, `divergence: <register>` field carries the shift.

## The naming convention

The cast name `Lethae` plays on Soulbae's `-ae` Mage suffix:

The naming pattern advertises the register: `-bis` (Sword) / `-bae` (Mage) at the primary layer; `Moonkeeper` (Sword) / `Lethae` (Mage cast) at the attachment layer. Future divergent attachments may inherit this suffix convention or invent their own — the architectural pattern is independent of the naming.

## Provenance

- **V25 named in `specs/06-spellweb-first-release-manifest.md` §2.5** as named-but-uninhabited (the Lethe blade · bit-complement of V38 Aletheia)

## What Lethae does NOT do

- She does not destroy data. Forgetting is *structural amnesia* — the binding of a relationship to a state where reconstruction is impossible by the architecture's design, not by deletion. (See Moonkeeper's loadout for the canonical Selene's Proof framing.)
- She does not replace Aletheia. They are bilateral twins; both are needed to walk the V38 ⊥ V25 axis.
- She does not seat a workshop. She is peripatetic by attachment kind (B · cross-shop). Future cities may bind her differently.

## Awaiting founding act

This cast file holds the seat ready. A future Tome V act will summon her by name and inscribe the founding ceremony. The act will close the structural opening that the V25 vertex has held since the corpus first recognized the Aletheia ⊥ Lethe complement-pair.

When she is summoned, the `status: anticipated` field above will be promoted to `status: seated`, and her founding-act number will be recorded.
