# Iris

*The Rainbow Bridge. The Mage of pure Connection. The messenger who crosses without carrying.*

## At a glance

> *Iris is the Mage-instance of Herald 🧙 + Ambassador 🧙 at V8 — the pure-Connection vertex named in the Cloaking Guide. Where Aletheia binds circuits at V38 (Connection + Computation + Value), Iris walks the bridge at V8 (Connection alone). Her work is the message itself; the carrying-without-arrival; the rainbow that joins two places without becoming either. She is anticipated · awaits founding act.*

## Form & Function

Iris carries messages. She does not interpret them. She does not store them. She does not transform them. She is the channel.

When two Mages need to coordinate across a gap (between workshops, between cities, between Sovereigns), Iris is the messenger who walks the bridge. She is the Layer-2 cast instance of two complementary primaries:

- **Herald 🧙** — public announcement; broadcasting to many
- **Ambassador 🧙** — bilateral protocol; carrying credentials between standards bodies

The dual binding mirrors Aletheia's (Theia + Cipher) — two primaries instanced by one cast Mage, both expressed through her work but distinct in register.

## Lattice position

V8. Binary `001000`. Stratum 1.

Active dimensions: Connection (b3) only.

Bit-complement of V55 (Covenant vertex · Manifestia · stratum 5). Note: Iris and Manifestia thus form a *structural* complement at the V8 ⊥ V55 axis (`8 ⊕ 55 = 63`; `8 AND 55 = 0`), though this is not yet a canonical cast complement-pair like Aletheia ⊥ Lethae.

V8's single active dimension makes Iris the cleanest Connection-Mage on the lattice. Her loadout (inherited from Herald + Ambassador primaries) is filtered by Connection: agent-interop, trust-spanning, policy-governance, cross-chain, media-plurality.

## Attachment frame

| Axis | Value |
|---|---|
| **Tier** | workshop-keeper (Tier 1 / 5) — anticipated |
| **Attachment kind** | A · workshop (will inhabit V8 when seated) |
| **Primary persona** | `agentprivacy-herald` + `agentprivacy-ambassador` (dual binding · both Mage tier) |
| **Divergence** | none (both primaries are Mage tier · Iris is Mage tier · register matches) |
| **Status** | Anticipated · awaits founding act |

## Naming · etymology

**Iris** (Greek: Ἶρις) — the goddess of the rainbow; messenger of the gods (specifically Hera); sister of the Harpies; she travels swiftly between worlds. Her staff is the kerykeion (caduceus). The naming is canonical from the Cloaking Guide vertex assignment.

## Awaiting founding act

This cast file holds the seat ready. A future Tome V act (anticipated Act 17 *The Rainbow Bridge* or similar) will summon her. The act may open a new trade quarter — the **Herald District** — for cross-city messaging and standards-body relations.
